Maths game

Today I played a challenging fractions game Titled Fractions Splat and I scored 330 points out of 500. I thought that this game was fun and a little bit challenging. The link to the website is below.

Why is a Medical Centre important  to the Community?

A medical centre is important because people go there so that they could seek medical advice from Doctors and Nurses.

Medical centres are used to help people with epidemic diseases or human viruses, where they are isolated so that they can’t spread their diseases or viruses to the other people.

People also go to the doctors for emergency treatment like bandage dressing, or seeing skin infections, X rays, cuts.

People can also go to the doctors if they’re sick. They could go to the doctors if they are coughing, sneezing,  or if they don’t feel well. Doctors can also come in handy for medical advice if you want advice from the doctor and you don’t know what to do.

Medical centres can also come in handy for students who are studying to become a doctor or nurse.

Another reason for going to the doctors is so that you could get prescriptions from the doctor if you need more medicine.

These are all very good reasons for why Medical Centres come in handy, and why they are used by the public when they need something.

The story about the Power outage in Auckland.

This morning, at 3:00 am, there was a power outage in some Suburbs. These Suburbs without power are: Remuera, Mt Wellington, Mission Bay, Greenlane, Orakei, Meadowbank, Kohimarama, Sylvia Park, St Heliers, Glendowie, Otahuhu and St Johns

Power has been restored to: Parts of Onehunga, Epsom, Mt Eden, Penrose, Te Papa, Rockfield, Newmarket, Glenn Innes and Ellerslie.  

Two fires damaged the Transpower's Penrose substation causing the outage.

Phones have also been affected. 2degrees, Vodafone and Spark are bringing in extra generators.

Traffic lights were also affected.

Over the next two days or so, the power should turn on in the rest of the suburbs, but power has just been restored in some places.

Story Review: The Copernicus Legacy: Book 1: The forbidden Stone. By Tony Abbot.

Today I read a book called The Copernicus Legacy Book 1: The forbidden Stone. This book was written by Tony Abbot.

This book is about a boy named Wade Kaplan, who receives a strange, coded email from his uncle Henry, shortly before the old man's sudden and suspicious death. He sets off for Germany to attend the funeral with his father, Roald, and his three friends, Darrell, Lily and Becca, only to discover that Uncle Henry left them yet another baffling message to why he died. 

The message leads to a clue, which sends them to a dark and creepy family Tomb. The more clues they discover, the farther they travel down a treacherous path towards an ancient, guarded secret. Soon they are in a breathless race across the globe, running for their lives as a ruthless shadow organisation chases them around every corner. Their only hope of saving themselves and the world that they know is to find twelve magical relics from a hidden past that will unlock the Copernicus Legacy. 

What I did today

Today I slept in till 9, and then I went to visit my aunties and my little cousin. Then we went outside to play on the trampoline. Next we went inside to have lunch. We had noodles with juice and cookies. After that we went to watch television. At five, we then changed the channel to Nickelodeon because the slime fest was on. Finally, we had to cook dinner.

I enjoyed my day today, because I had a lot of fun.

Reflection for Term 3 2014

My reflection for Term 3, 2014:

The activities we did:

In Term 3, we had Tae Kwon Do. Tae Kwon Do started on week 2 of Term 3, and finished on week 9 of Term 3. We learnt how to defend ourselves if someone tried to kidnap us and we also learned moves to use as self - defense. It was a really fun experience and we learnt a lot.

We also had our school cross country. First it was the junior school, and then it was the senior school's turn to have cross country. We started at 12:00 and finished just before 1:00 on a Friday, but I can't remember what week it was. We had to do 3 laps, and it was very exercising, and also very tiring. In my age group, I came 4th, just 3 - 5 seconds after Fusi, who came 3rd. It was really fun and tiring. 

After that, though, the girls in my class went to prepare a party for Fahina, who was leaving our school. When she came into the Hall, (where we were hosting the party) she was very surprised, which was amazing because we wanted to do something fun for her before she left,and it was sad to see her go, and it was also good to have a shared lunch with her and the rest of the class and also the teachers in the School which was special.

Also the year 7 and 8's in our school (including me) had a day where we have Careers day. Careers day is when someone organizes to invite someone they know (or themselves) to talk about their journey about their lives, what influenced them to work where they work, or what they do as a job, and they also give handy information and advice. The people that we had visit us were: A Police officer named Andrew and his partner.(but I forgot his name.) We also had an artist named Dagnar Dyck, Mrs Tofa, Mrs Ripata, A teacher from a different school, A deputy principal from Tamaki College, A team of trainee nurses/doctors and their teacher from Mapas at the University of Auckland, Mr Parker, and a few others.

In reading, our learning intention was to use an infrencing strategy to find answers to questions in the text. 

Writing:

In writing, we were learning to write a recount by using a checklist on structural and language features of a recount.

Maths:

In maths were were learning to solve simple ratio problems by using repeated addition.

Conclusion:

This Term was cool because it was fun, and because we learnt a lot of things. I can't wait for next term.
