This blog post is about a very important person. His name was Martin Luther King Jr. He was an African-American man. Martin Luther King Jr was an American baptist minister, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil rights movement. He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights not using violence based on his Christian beliefs. He was assassinated on the fourth of April in 1969 in Memphis, Tennessee in the United States. He was only 39 years of age. He was assassinated by James Earl Ray. He was later convicted after entering a guilty plea. He believed in what was right for his people. He, among other people believed everyone should be treated equally, and that black people being slaved was not right and that it should be stopped. He died a hero, and we should be thankful to his commitment to stopping injustice. Below are a few of his quotes.
One who breaks an unjust law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for law.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character.
